A note about our process: all work is done from observations by setting up lights and mirrors in the classroom.  Most years students elect to use oil paint for this assignment. However, one year due to unusual circumstances, we were unable to access our room and supplies. Therefore we instead painted recycled paper with tempera paints. These scrap papers were cut into small squares or 'mosaic' pieces and students completed the assignment as a mosaic.
